Corrections policy
Corrections policy
If a number here is wrong, we fix it in place, date the fix, and say what changed. Nothing is quietly edited.
How to report one
Send the page, the figure you think is wrong, and — if you have one — the source that says otherwise. A manufacturer spec sheet or a primary data source settles almost every case. See contact.
What we do about it
- A wrong figure is corrected in the data file it came from, which corrects every page that uses it at once. The page records the date it changed.
- A disputed figure — where our source and yours disagree — is removed rather than adjusted, and stays out until a primary document settles it. We would rather show a blank than pick the more likely of two numbers.
- A discontinued or revised product is marked as such and excluded from recommendations. Being on sale and being the product we hold a spec sheet for are two different things.
What we do not do
We do not silently edit a figure and leave the page looking untouched, and we do not delete a page to make a mistake disappear.
